What does it cost to be great?
Should he be good or great?
Good is good,
But great is great.
Good is kind,
And good is meek.
Christ was good,
And he loved Him.
But then he caught the bug,
Like many others before.
Found it in books, films, everywhere he looked.
At least that’s what the people close to him said,
When he took off one day and didn’t call home.
Peter was great,
Alexander too,
Gordon, definitely,
Many people you know.
The men who build tall buildings,
Fight the right fights,
Win big,
And go for broke.
They’re all great, great in their own ways.
The greatest of them make other great men.
And the greatest thing about great is that it doesn’t need to be good.
Good can weigh down on the great.
So he cut out that part of him, the part that was good.
And maybe one day he’ll join other great men
In the biggest graveyards there are.
The good folks he knew will be far away by then.
Far away. Buried somewhere else.
