Music has many forms: everything from your mother's laugh to an orchestra to the sound of falling raindrops has its own personal sense of musicality. The video essay below is a compilation of various forms of music I have found in my travels and everyday life. They are snippets of melodies, peeks into the various ways of hearing, of feeling. They are music because they are sound; they are complex precisely because of their simplicity.
Peterskirche Church in Salzburg, Austria: An organ recital compliments the grand ornate building.
Verbena in La Orotava, Tenerife: The juxtaposition of the reggaeton and traditional Canarian dress is ironic, especially when reflecting on the musical traditions in Canarias.
Girlhood: Watching the Taylor Swift Tiny Desk Concert in a sparse living room is all one needs sometimes.
In the airport of La Palma, Islas Canarias: Music shows up everywhere and anywhere, including outside of a boarding gate among total strangers of all ages.
