A playlist to bring your mind back to freedom

Maximilian Mihaylov

This playlist is made to help free your mind from the responsibility of being an adult, and bring it back to the time when your imagination ran wild. Of course, as you grow older, imagination does not just show up on its own the way it did when you were a kid. Back then, a regular day could turn into a whole world or an epic game without any effort; it was natural. Now, as an adult, you need to exercise the intention of being imaginative. Today on my walk during a cold, brisk, sunny winter day, I did just that: I searched for imagination. The sharp air and ice trails helped wake my body and brain up. This playlist worked in tandem with those feelings. I added higher-energy songs that wake the imagination within you, while the quieter ones I added to slow things down and allow your thoughts to wander –another important facet of imagination. Tracks like Out of the Woods, Green Light, and New Romantics help push your brain forward and keep your thoughts free-flowing, allowing imagination to surge and sweep in all directions. Other songs like Clean, cardigan, and Good Days create pauses and slow time down, moments where your mind can drift, reflect, and start building on the plot of the songs with your own imagination. Together, all the songs help bring that feeling of being alert and curious, much like when you were a child and your imagination ran wild. The music is about letting yourself return to that sense of freedom you had before everything was shaped by responsibility, when you played for the sake of playing and imagination came easily and naturally.
